Jordan Brand is reportedly opening the vault.
After years of speculation and countless requests from sneakerheads, the legendary Air Jordan 9 “Super Freak”—inspired by Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss’ coveted player exclusive—is expected to make its long-awaited retail debut on February 13, 2027, just ahead of Super Bowl Weekend.
The release marks the first time the iconic colorway, once reserved exclusively for Moss, will be available to the public.
Originally created during Moss’ dominant run with the Minnesota Vikings, the “Super Freak” PE became one of the most sought-after unreleased Jordans in sneaker history. The expected retail version is said to stay true to the original, featuring a premium white leather upper accented by bold purple patent leather mudguards and metallic gold detailing that pays homage to the Vikings’ signature colors.
The sneaker is also expected to feature the signature “Super Freak” branding on the tongue, honoring the nickname that followed Moss throughout his Hall of Fame career. While the retail pair won’t include the football-specific tooling found on the original PE, it is expected to retain the classic Air Jordan 9 silhouette that collectors know and love.
The timing couldn’t be more fitting. Releasing during Super Bowl Weekend places one of football’s most iconic sneaker stories on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
With a reported retail price of $215, the Air Jordan 9 “Super Freak” has all the ingredients to become one of 2027’s most coveted Jordan releases. Whether you’re a lifelong Randy Moss fan, a Jordan collector, or simply appreciate the history behind player exclusives, this is one release that deserves a spot on your radar.
